Utility Locate for Jaynes Corporation in Bernalillo, NM

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. (GPRS) was called to map drainage lines in the old bathroom of the Santa Ana Star casino in Bernalillo, NM for Jaynes Construction.  Jaynes wanted to know the specific location of these lines because there were excavating the old bathroom and putting in a new restaurant.  Using GPR, the drainage line was found along with two other electrical lines, which provided the client with the necessary information for their future construction planning of the restaurant.

GRPS uses EMI and 400MHz antenna to locate Utilities in Craig Colorado

GPRS was contacted by TriHydro Corporation of Laramie Wyoming to use ground penetrating radar and Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) to locate utilities and possible underground storage tanks (UST’s) in Craig Colorado. The customer was going to do soil boring samples on the job and needed to verify that there were no utilities or tanks still present on the property. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was able to quickly mobilize and scan the area using 400MHz antenna, and EMI (electromagnetic induction).

The technician was able to quickly scan the area and mark out any findings that were located while using ground penetrating radar. Because GPR has instant results all findings were marked directly on the surface for the customer in real time. This was important to the customer as they needed results of all findings immediately. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was also able to use Electromagnetic Induction technology to scan the area and locate any targets that would put off a magnetic field.  This data is then processed in the truck so any potential targets can be communicated to the customer quickly and efficently.

GPR Used at Sports Authority Field in Denver, CO

 Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver, CO was contacted by a contractor to locate utilities the Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the installation of a new building next to the stadium. The customer did not have complete knowledge of the utilities of the area and did not wish to strike any unknown utilities while excavating. GPRS, Inc. arrived on site to locate possible utilities using Ground Penetrating Radar technology in the proposed excavation area to keep the job site safe and on schedule, eliminating any unknowns.

Utility Locating at Water Treatment Plant in Phoenix, AZ

GPRS in Arizona was called to locate utilities on site by Okland Construction. The contractor was installing new solar fields at the City of Phoenix Water Treatment Plant near Lake Pleasant. The process involved boring and digging into the ground to place posts that would hold the solar panels. The contractor was concerned about hitting utilities in the area.

GPRS was able to locate the utilities using both Ground Penetrating Radar technology and an RD7000 Radio Detection utility wand to scan for utilities in the proposed areas.  GPRS was able to locate live power, communication and water lines in the areas. GPRS marked all findings with spray paint and flags directly on the surface. After the markings, the contractor was able to begin the project immediately. The real time markings allowed the contractor to keep the project on time and budget.

Utilities located for the Utah air National Guard in Salt Lake City

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by the Utah Air National Guard to locate utilities prior to soil boring.  The customer was concerned about hitting utilities due to the inaccurate prints they had from past construction jobs.  The customer has penetrated utilities on previous boring jobs.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a 400 MHz antenna for this application and a Radio Detection (RD) device to detect electrical current deep in the soil.  All findings were marked with orange marking paint directly on the surface for easy interpretation by the customer.  GPRS’ 400 MHz antenna was ideal because of its accurate deep penetration and the open clear area the technician had to work.  GPR was utilized for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas.  GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location.

Underground Utility Locating at Mercy Hospital – Springfield, MO

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Kansas City was hired by Beck to assist in finding underground utilities in the footprint of the new construction at the Cox South Hospital in
Springfield, MO.

Our technician was able to locate several utilities in the area of the expansion giving the contractor valuable information to assist in the excavation process. GPR is a not destructive way of locating utilities that can provide accurate depths that can be very helpful when starting any excavation. GPRS was contacted by Dickson & Associates of Denver Colorado to use Ground Penetrating Radar and Electro Magnetic Induction (EMI) to locate possible underground storage tanks (UST’s) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Safe Trenching and Utility Locating in Elgin Nebraska for Blattner Energy

Ground Penetrating Radar Scan Performed to Locate Rebar and Conduit in Newport Beach, California

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Southern California was contacted by an large general contractor to scan 50 core drilling locations for plumbing and electrical at a hotel in Newport Beach, CA.  The contractor was not allowed to damage rebar during core drilling and especially did not want to drill through one of the numerous electrical conduits that were embedded in the slab.  GPRS was able to locate and mark the upper and lower layers of rebar onto the surface of the concrete so that the core could be performed without cutting through rebar.  GPR was also used to locating plastic/PVC conduits in the slab.  Conduits were found within the slab at almost every proposed core drilling location.  The conduits were labeled on the surface.  Unlike conventioan X-Ray, GPR is not limited to a specific size of area at each location.  We were able to scan at least a 2’x2’ area at each location so that the contractor would have safe options for drilling.
