Ground Penetrating Radar Scan performed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Southern California was contacted by a general contractor in order to scan for reinforcing prior to core drilling in multiple areas. We scanned (3) different slabs that consisted of a 12” thick deck with rebar and post tension, a 6” deck with 12” on center rebar, and a 7”-8” deck with rebar and post tension. The contractor had asked us to scan large areas from 12”x12” areas to 5’x5’ areas for multiple proposed core drill and walker ducts. We marked all reinforcing findings with a black sharpie, and all beams were marked with red keel. We scanned approximately 7 sections throughout 2 floors and were finished within 2 hours, which gave the contractor enough time to lay out the cores and core drill that same morning.

GPR scanning is a great tool to use for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to scan for underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. GPRS has offices throughout the entire state of California and performs projects in cities like; Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Lancaster and the greater Los Angeles area.
