The contractors on site were tasked with installing numerous anchor plates throughout the top deck to install permanent barricades and other features, and needed to confirm that post tension cables or other anomalies would not be hit. As other work was being performed in the vicinity, the contactor needed to confirm all locations in a very timely manner and ensure worker safety.

This GPR scan took place over a beam in an elevator shaft of a new building being constructed in Plano, TX. The customer needed to identify the locations of the post tensioned cables running through the beam, so they could safely install anchors for the counterweight system. Post Tension locating in Tulsa, OklahomaPrior to the installation of storage rack system at a local warehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a contractor contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to scan the areas prior to drilling approximately 1500 anchors. Jay Tate-GPRS Oklahoma mobilized to the site to perform a method of concrete scanning using ground penetrating radar within the suggested area to locate post-tension cables. Due to the portability of the GPR antenna, the radar imaging was performed quickly and accurately. This GPR scan took place on the edge of an elevated concrete slab on the exterior of a commercial building in Dallas, TX. The customer needed to identify the locations of the post tensioned cables running through the slab so they could safely install anchors for new glazing. Concrete reinforced with post tensioned (PT) cables can cause serious injury or damage if the cables fail as a result of being struck. The PT cables needed to be clearly marked before the customer commenced destruction of the reinforced concrete slab.

Void Scan | La Porte, TX

A major Petro Chemical plant in La Porte, TX contacted GPRS about performing a GPR scan to search for sub surface voids during their turnover of the existing water cooling tower. The client had been concerned about sub surface wash out as they were installing additional concrete piers to support the new water tower installation. We used the 1600 MHz antenna and the 400 MHz antenna to effectively locate the void locations by searching for the separation of the bottom of the slab and soil. GPRS was able to determine the location of the sub surface voids in all three of the concrete catch basins, thus helping the client determine the most efficient way of fixing the washout beneath the slab.
