Reinforcement Mapping

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by architects to locate the reinforcement running through a commercial slab of concrete.  The architects were concerned of the safety issues with the load-bearing capabilities of the slab for future machinery that was going to be implemented into the warehouse. In order to safely place the machinery, the architects needed to know the amount of reinforcement in the slab, the depth of the reinforcement in the slab, and the thickness of the concrete prior to placing the machinery accurately and safely.  GPRS was able to arrive onsite within 24 hours of the requested job and safely locate the entire reinforcement running inside the slab of concrete, the depth of the reinforcement, and the thickness of the concrete throughout the warehouse.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a GSSI 1600 MHz antenna for this application to locate the reinforcement. All findings were marked directly on the concrete with crayon at the customer’s request for easy interpretation and easy cleanup of the marked areas.  GPR was ideal for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas.  GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location.  All Ground Penetrating Radar is real time data that is displayed and can be marked with 1/8” accuracy as the GPRS technician is scanning.  There is no need for after-site data analysis or processing.  This application makes is easy to get quick and accurate results in a manner that does not hold up the rest of the job or anyone else operating on that job site.

Reinforcement Mapping in Dallas_1Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by a general contractor to locate the reinforcement inside the concrete foundation of an office building. The GC was getting pressured from the structural engineer to find out exactly how the reinforcement laid so they would cut as little as possible and therefore keeping as much of the structural integrity of the foundation as possible. The general contractor was attempting to drill two 18” holes through the foundation to push through piping for a new communications system inside the building. GPRS was able to come on site within 24hrs of the requested job and safely locate all of the reinforcement inside the concrete foundation despite the tight quarters inside the crawl space making it the shortest and smoothest path possible for the contractor to take.

Environmental Engineers Trust GPRS

Joseph R. Granados, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems Project Manager of El Paso, Texas Region, was contacted recently to search for utilities at a local school. The environmental company completing the soil testing wanted to make sure that all drilling and trench locations could be completed as safely as possible.  They also requested a Google earth file and AutoCAD for this project. The GPRS technician used ground penetrating radar to locate and map out the utilities before any drilling or trenching began. Each location was scanned for utilities such as water lines, conduit, communication lines, gas lines, sewer, and energized lines.  Once the client was clear on all locations and provided depth of the utilities, work could commence safely. GPR Scanning for Parking Garage Anchor Locations – Grapevine, TX

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. was recently contacted to clear numerous anchor locations on the top deck of a parking garage located in Grapevine, TX. The contractors on site were tasked with installing numerous anchor plates throughout the top deck to install permanent barricades and other features, and needed to confirm that post tension cables or other anomalies would not be hit.
