6 Miles of Gas Line Located to Create Accurate Records

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Arizona was contacted by an out of state contractor to locate two gas lines over a distance of six miles.  The purpose of this project was to assist the contractor in creating an accurate map for future reference.  Using a combination of ground penetrating radar technologies (GPR) and Radio Detection (RD), the gas lines were easily located in several locations over the six-mile distance.  Nathan Holscher plotted each section using a Trimble GPS and used the GPS coordinates to provide the client with a comprehensive report and aerial map of the findings.  GPRS saved the client time and money by providing both the locating service and comprehensive report.

GPR is a great tool for locating underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating. GPR can also be used to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes.
