A Structural Engineer Relies on GPRS to Confirm Rebar Spacing, Depths, and Size

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Southern California was contacted by a structural engineering firm to confirm the rebar spacing, depth and size. Multiple locations were scanned throughout the perimeter of the building and all findings were marked with blue painter tape. Test cores were also to be performed in each area scanned as the building is a historical landmark and all of the rebar was to be preserved. We documented all findings and provided the customer with a Summary of Findings that same afternoon.

GPR mapping is a great tool to scan for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. GPRS has offices throughout the entire state of California and performs projects in cities like; Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Lancaster and the greater Los Angeles area.
