Concrete Sawing & Drilling Safety Week Success

The first annual Concrete Sawing & Drilling Safety Week in 2020 was a success. Nationally, over 2,100 people took part in learning about safe practices of concrete drilling and saw cutting. Over 65 companies took the challenge and hosted job site meetings. To focus on safety, was a great way to start the new decade.

Thanks to CSDA, GSSI, SIM and CCG that were leading the industry in safety and partnering with GPRS for Concrete Sawing and Drilling Safety Week 2020. The GPRS business development team led meetings at companies increasing the awareness of best practices associated with concrete cutting and coring through detailed presentations and discussions.

The topics that were covered during these discussions focused on the various methods, common risks and hazards associated concrete sawing and drilling, how an individual and a company can mitigate these risks and lastly the significance of using best practices for choosing the right company to scan, cut or core concrete.

This effort to focus on safety and make safety a priority for companies was highly appreciated. Below are some comments gathered from social media through which we got immediate positive feedback.

“This was a great opportunity for our industry partners to focus on preserving their most important asset – their people. Safety should always be at the forefront of our minds and taking a few days to really emphasize its importance is so critical!”

Concrete Sawing & Drilling Safety Week continues to roll on up here in Northern California. Had a great discussion on safety with a crew from Potential Electrical Design Services. Since there was only three of us, we were able to have a great back and forth talk that allowed us to learn from each other. We sure are lucky to be working with so many great and safety-minded companies.”

“Everyone loves hard hat stickers! Thank you to our client Lendlease for having me speak about how saw-cutting/drilling can be hazardous without having a quality GPRS utility sweep for embedded targets within the concrete.”
