Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by a contractor to locate possible utilities in a concrete slab on the factory floor on Kumi Manufacturing. The contractor was asked to remove the existing slab and replace it with a reinforced floor to prepare for heavy machinery. They were concerned of hitting utilities, particularly live power, and brought GPRS in to scan before cutting the concrete.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a GSSI 400 MHz antenna and the Radio Detection wand for this application to locate the utilites. All findings were marked directly on the concrete at customers request for easy interpretation. GPR was ideal for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas. GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location.
