Environmental Company Utilizes GPRS to Minimize the Risk of Striking a Utility – Jacksonville, FL

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems’ office of Jacksonville, Florida was contacted recently to clear soil borings on an abandoned plant site. The environmental company completing the soil testing wanted to ensure all drilling and boring locations could be completed as safely as possible and minimize the risk of striking a utility.

GPRS used ground penetrating radar to locate and map the utilities prior to any work being completed. Each location was scanned and utilities such as water lines, electrical lines, telecommunication and fiber lines and a large gas line were all located near the drilling locations. All of these utilities were mapped on site and painted on the surface to signify the location of the utility beneath the surface.

Once the client was clear on the location and depth of the utilities, work could then commence safely. The drilling company was able to drill each location safely, without disrupting any live utilities or injuring any of their employees thanks to the locate work completed by GPRS.
