Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Arizona was contacted by a large mining company to locate all underground electrical utilities in a large renovation / upgrade project outside of Camp Verde, Arizona. There were known electrical lines present and it was essential that their locations were properly documented to prevent injury, damage, and costly repairs or interruptions to mine operations.
This project was a particular challenge to the contractor who needed to find a private utility locator who could respond promptly to their remote and rural location. GPRS was able to respond within 24 hours from the client’s first contact. GPRS specializes in quick response in rural or metro areas throughout the state of Arizona.
GPRS, Inc. arrived on site and used both ground penetrating radar and radio detection / signal induction technologies to locate the utilities on site, marking them all in real time with paint and producing immediate results. GPRS’ quick response and clear markings communicated each utility’s location and prevented any damage to the underground utilities – preventing risk as well as any detrimental impact to critical mining and safety operations. This enabled the general contractor to continue to safely excavate with confidence, while eliminating costly repairs and safety issues.
Ground penetrating Radar mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground penetrating radar can also be used to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating.GPRS has done many projects such as this in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Flagstaff, Prescott, Kingman, and throughout the entire state of Arizona and performs GPR surveys throughout the United States.
