GPRS locates post tension cables in Washington D.C.

A contractor investigating the structural components of a post tension building in Washington DC contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of DC for concrete scanning. The contractor hoped to find valuable information about the reinforcing and post tension cables of the building before core drilling for anchors on the slab edge. GPRS was able to mark the depths of the reinforcing and cables accurately.

GPRS scanning assists contractors by reducing the likelihood of subsurface obstruction strikes during drilling, cutting, trenching, anchoring and other sub-surface applications. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, using GSSI Sir-3000 technology, located the critical post tension cables in the slab which allowed contractors to avoid a possible cable strike. GPRS has used different GSSI antennas to accommodate for ceiling work or even work in tight spaces giving clients data up to 1” close to walls or objects.  Information was given in real time, giving the contractor quick results with a safe place to drill in each location. This was all done in a safe, time efficient, non-destructive way.
