Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Southern California was contacted by an HVAC company in order to mark out the rebar in a ceiling prior to coring an 8” hole for a new AC unit. We found that the slab was 6” thick and the rebar was 12” on center. We had to scan the area from the bottom as the floor above us was occupied with office desk/portables. The client wanted to preserve as much rebar as possible due to the building’s being considered a historical landmark so we marked out a 5’x5’ area and provided the customer with several coring options.
GPR mapping is a great tool to scan for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. GPRS has offices throughout the entire state of California and performs projects in cities like Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Lancaster and the greater Los Angeles area. Please contact Freddy Espinal at 805-729-5877 or firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about ground penetrating radar and how GPRS can assist in your projects.
