GPRS Utilized to Scan Concrete Cooling Tower Prior to Anchoring Steel Plate in East China, MI

Prior to saw cutting, core drilling or anchoring into a concrete structure, it’s important to have as much information as possible to what lies below the surface. We take out the guesswork by utilizing the proper GPR technology.

A general contractor had a project outside a cooling tower in East China, Michigan where they needed to drill and anchor bolts approximately 6 inches into an existing concrete cooling tower in order to install a steel plate. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Michigan was contacted to scan the concrete to map the existing reinforcing steel. GPRS utilized the latest in GPR technology to locate the reinforcing steel so when the contractor inserted the anchor bolts there wasn’t any reinforcing steel obstructing the drilling. GPRS then communicated the markings to the onsite Superintendent so everyone had a clear understanding of the findings.
