Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of California was contacted by an electric company to locate conduit and reinforcing in the slab prior to anchoring and coring for a new kiosk.
We were asked to mark all findings with blue tape and differentiate conduit from reinforcing. We scanned a total of 14 locations throughout the airport and scanned a 3’x3’ area at each location. We used our 1600 MHz antenna to locate all findings and were able to determine that there was 6” on center wire mesh over the metal decking slab.
Ground penetrating Radar mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
