Ground Penetrating Radar Scan Performed in Metler, Southern CA

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of California was contacted by a telecommunications company to locate underground utilities in a large agricultural field just south of Bakersfield, CA. There is a large area where workers have machinery and a large telecommunication pole was to be placed there. The proposed drill was to be 30 feet deep with a diameter of 6 feet. GPR was used to scan the area to locate utilities. We also use Radio Detection for finding live power and communications signals and connecting to metal pipes and tracer wires. GPRS was able to locate 2 water and electrical lines. The pipes were painted on the surface and were provided with a depth.

Geophysical mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
