Ground Penetrating Radar Scan Performed in Mojave, CA

Ground Penetrating Radar Scan performed in Mojave, CA Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Southern California was contacted by an energy company in order to scan for utilities prior to mobilizing a crane. We were asked to scan an approximate area of 500’x300’ on an existing wind farm; the area we scanned was for a large crane that was to be stationed there. We first scanned the area using Radio Detection and found a high voltage line running parallel to a dirt road. We then used GPR and were able to confirm a depth on the line; the depth was 4’. Due to the wet conditions of the area scanned, we marked the finding with flags and pins.  No other utilities were found onsite.

GPR scanning is a great tool to use for post tension cables, rebar, and conduits; it can also be used to scan for underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. GPRS has offices throughout the entire state of California and performs projects in cities like; Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Lancaster and the greater Los Angeles area.
