Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Wisconsin was contacted by a general contractor in downtown Milwaukee to scan for post tension cables in a 10” thick slab. GPRS was informed the contractor used another company at the site and a bundle of cables were hit during the coring process causing thousands of dollars in damages, delaying the project and putting workers at risk. GPRS was able to get to the site and identify the critical targets for the contractor and over 30 core locations were cored without hitting any post tension cables or rebar. The contractor then requested GPRS to provide a 30 minute lunch presentation to the workers on site to discuss safety and how we can assist them whenever digging, coring, cutting, or excavating occurs.
Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan areas for utilities, UST’s, voids, and other unknown obstacles on your site. GPR is also great for mapping post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. GPRS has an arsenal of tools that can be used for your specific project and now includes sewer camera inspection.
