Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Arizona was contacted by the city of Sedona, Arizona to locate all underground utilities within the city’s main street at their famous tourist district along North State Route 89A. All utilities, such as power, communication (fiber optic and conduit), sewer lines, water, gas, and any other conduits were to be located to allow for a complete overhaul of the city’s busiest roadway.
GPRS, Inc. arrived on site and used both ground penetrating radar and radio detection / signal induction technologies to locate all utilities in the roadway. This enabled the general contractor to safely excavate the roadway while eliminating costly repairs by avoiding breakages of any underground utilities.
GPR mapping is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. GPR can also be used to locate underground utilities such as water, gas, electrical, communication, sewer, and other objects prior to digging or excavating.
GPRS, Inc. has completed several similar projects in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Flagstaff, Prescott, Kingman, and throughout the entire state of Arizona.
